Who We Are

House of Melanin, affectionately known as HOM (pronounced home,) provides a bevy of services influenced by metropolitan living. Its founders have gained unmatched experience in New York City, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and London. It is their goal to enlighten and expose their peers and our youth to the beautifully endless opportunities of life. HOM infuses style, beauty, and culture into all of its service offerings including: lifestyle coaching, monthly entertainment and access to the latest developments in skin care, fashion, event planning and community involvement. 

HOM’s foundation was built by three eager women all hailing from Columbus, Ohio. Together, Shayla Cox, Makia Kambon, and Malika James, have merged their talents and international experience to create a collective unlike any other of its kind. HOM’s vision is to bring the fashion, events, and luxuries from New York City, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and London to all women in the U.S. while inspiring youth and the community to seek the most out of life.
